China sets starting price for global warming deal

China today demanded richer countries set aside a fixed amount of their national income to help poorer nations fight global warming.

The country has long called on developed countries to shoulder what it says is their historic burden to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases blamed for a rise in global temperatures.
