Djibouti president warns of possibility of war
The president of Djibouti, a key US ally in the Horn of Africa, is warning that Eritrea’s occupation of territory on their border overlooking critical Red Sea shipping lanes could lead to war if the dispute isn’t quickly resolved.
President Ismail Omar Guelleh urged the UN Security Council to demand that Eritrea and Djibouti focus on resolving the crisis within about a three-week period. He said any failure to comply with this demand should result in sanctions by the Security Council.
