Policeman: I felt sorry for De Menezes' killers
A senior British firearms officer today described finding Jean Charles de Menezes's police killers covered in blood – and added: “I felt sorry for them.”
With a voice cracking with emotion, the inspector, known as Trojan 84, said he saw the two firearms officers just moments after the Brazilian was shot seven times from pointblank range on a Tube carriage in south London.
Remembering meeting the pair in a tunnel at Stockwell Underground station, he said: “I just remember feeling sorry for them at that point.
“The reason for that was because they were covered in blood.”
