Ex-army chief in war crimes trial

A former Yugoslav army chief will go on trial at The Hague today for his alleged role in atrocities in Bosnia including the Srebrenica massacre and siege of Sarajevo.

The trial at the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal of General Momcilo Perisic hinges on the close links between the Yugoslav army and Bosnian Serb forces commanded by fugitive general Ratko Mladic.
