Volvo Trucks to lay off 1,400 workers

Volvo today announced plans to lay off around 1,400 staff at truck production plants to adjust to falling demand in the European market.

The truck and bus manufacturer said the cutbacks affected plants in Ghent in Belgium and two Swedish plants, in Gothenburg and Umea.
