Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown today took on his critics as he sought to re-establish his authority as Labour leader, warning rebels the public would not forgive them for putting internal party wranglings ahead of steering the country through economic turmoil.

Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown today took on his critics as he sought to re-establish his authority as Labour leader, warning rebels the public would not forgive them for putting internal party wranglings ahead of steering the country through economic turmoil.

Mr Brown acknowledged that he was seen as “too serious” and conceded that the 10p tax debacle had “stung” him.
