Police questioned college massacre student over gun video
The gunman who murdered nine fellow students at a Finnish college today was questioned then released by police yesterday over a video he posted on the internet.
The 22-year-old student, who was only granted a firearms licence last month, was seen by officers, Finland’s interior minister Anne Holmlund admitted today.
She said they wanted to talk to him about YouTube postings in which he is seen firing a handgun but he was freed because they had no legal reason to keep him detained.
The man used a .22 pistol, like the one featured in his video, in the attack today in Kauhajoki, 180 miles from Helsinki.
He walked into a crowded exam room and opened fire before shooting himself in the head.
He survived and was taken to hospital with series head wounds.
