EC to propose 11c cap on roaming SMS charges

The European Commission is set to force mobile phone operators to further reduce their roaming charges.

Under plans due to be announced today, the cost of sending a text message from anywhere in the EU would be capped at 11c from next July, compared to the current average of around 29c.
