Quake rocks New Zealand's north island

A moderate magnitude 5.8 earthquake has struck in New Zealand’s central North Island. There are no immediate reports of damage or injury.

The quake hit at 1.21pm local time today six miles southeast of Turangi near Lake Taupo, the centre of an active volcanic area.
