Republicans pour scorn on Obama's speech

Barack Obama delivered a “misleading” speech which was at odds with his “meagre” record, his Republican rival John McCain’s campaign said today.

Mr McCain, who had earlier congratulated Mr Obama on his historic achievement of becoming the first African American US presidential nominee of a major party, said the Democrat was still not ready to be president.
