Fears for whale calf who thinks boat is mother

A lost humpback whale calf that bonded with a yacht it seems to think is its mother will probably die within days unless it finds a female to adopt it, an expert said today.

The calf, aged around one month, was first sighted on Sunday in waters off north Sydney, and yesterday tried to suckle from a yacht, which it would not leave.
