A man said to have been keeping weapons and military-style gear in his hotel room and car appeared in a Florida court accused of threatened to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Raymond Geisel, aged 22, who was arrested by the Secret Service on Saturday in Miami, was remanded in custody to Miami’s detention centre.
