On-run al-Qaida commander killed
An al-Qaida commander was killed by a US airstrike in Afghanistan, the terror group said today.
Abu Abdullah al-Shami was one of four al-Qaida leaders who escaped from US-run Bagram prison in Afghanistan three years ago.
Today’s statement, issued in a statement on on a website frequently used by al-Qaida, was signed by the terror network’s top Afghanistan commander, Mustafa Abu al-Yazeed.
It said al-Shami was “martyred with a group of his companions.” It did not elaborate on where he was killed, or who was with him.
