Sarkozy honours Betancourt

Former hostage Ingrid Betancourt was today presented with France’s highest award, the Legion of Honour.

President Nicolas Sarkozy said it was a way of saying “we love you” and acknowledging Ms Betancourt as a symbol of hope.
