Romania urged to scrap 'good news' bill

A European media watchdog today asked Romania’s president to veto legislation that would require radio and TV stations to ensure half of their coverage dealt with good news.

Miklos Haraszti, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s media freedom representative, said the bill was “a severe political intrusion into editorial freedom”.
