Pakistan denies role in Afghan suicide bombing

Pakistan’s prime minister denied today that his country’s intelligence agency played any role in the suicide bombing outside the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan’s capital.

Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said his country has no interest in destabilising Afghanistan.

Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry had hinted that yesterday’s attack that killed 41 people was carried out with help from Pakistan’s intelligence service.

But during a visit to Malaysia today, Mr Gilani said: “We want stability in the region. We ourselves are a victim of terrorism and extremism.”

Yesterday’s suicide bomb ripped through the gates of the embassy in Kabul, killing 41 people and wounding 150 others.
