UN: '€12.6bn a year' needed to fight world hunger
Up to €12.6bn may be needed each year to increase food production and fight hunger caused by soaring fuel and food prices, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon said today.
At the UN summit on the food crisis he said most of that money “will come from concerned countries themselves,” but contributions will be needed from the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organisation, and development banks.
