Italy launches mafia crackdown
Police in Italy arrested 49 suspected Mafia members in a series of raids today.
They said another 11 suspects of the Camorra syndicate were being sought in the countryside around Caserta, a town near Naples.
Investigators said many of the suspects have been using violence against Camorra turncoats as clans fight for power.
Police also confiscated €75m in assets, including homes and stocks.
The Camorra uses its wealth to cover costs of fugitives and pay families of members who were jailed or killed in crime wars.
Camorra activities include extortion, prostitution and drug trafficking.
