Seven killed as bus hits bridge in France

Seven people were killed and 25 others injured when a bus carrying Moroccan workers crashed into a bridge in France’s Loire Valley today, regional authorities said.

The bus was carrying 32 people to Paris when it hit a pillar of the bridge in the small town of Suevres, about 150km south-west of the capital.

Jean-Francois Moniotte, an aide to the regional administration chief, said the vehicle was found tangled in the bridge pillar.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and the circumstances remained unclear, he added.

Of the 25 people injured, three were reported to be in a critical condition.
