Interpol paedophile suspect caught

The suspected paedophile at the centre of a world-wide Interpol hunt has been arrested in America.

Wayne Nelson Corliss was caught just two days after the international police agency appealed for public help to catch him and released his picture.

Interpol said the man, an actor, was held at his home in Union City, New Jersey.

It said he is suspected of sexually abusing at least three young boys from Southeast Asia.

Earlier this week, Interpol had issued a global appeal, seeking assistance to identify a man seen in a group of images investigators found on the internet and taken from the computer of a convicted paedophile.

The photos seized by police in Norway in 2006 showed the man's alleged abuse.

His victims are thought to have been as young as six.

A similar appeal last year involving a digital unscrambling of images intended to hide the face of an abuser led to the arrest of Canadian Christopher Paul Neil in Thailand where he is still awaiting trial.
