Monet painting bought for €26m at auction

A Claude Monet painting of a railway bridge over the river Seine sold for more than €26m at auction and set a new record for the artist, auction house Christie’s said today.

Monet’s 'Le pont du chemin de fer a Argenteuil' fetched $41.4m (€26.7m) when it went under the hammer at Christie’s in New York’s Rockefeller Plaza last night.
