DNA tests confirm man fathered daughter's children

Austrian authorities have said the DNA tests conducted on Josef Fritzl, the man who had kidnapped his daughter for 24 years, have confirmed he is the father of his daughter's children.

The retired electrician confessed yesterday to imprisoning his daughter Elisabeth and fathering seven children with her in a windowless cell sealed by an electronic keyless-entry system.

One of the children died in infancy and was tossed into the furnace of what stunned residents in Amstetten have dubbed a “house of horrors”, officials said.

Fritzl owned the grey stone apartment building, lived there with his family, and rented the other units to relatives.
