Suicide bomber kills 45 at Iraq funeral

A suicide bomber killed at least 45 people at an Iraqi funeral today.

Police said the man blew himself up in the middle of the ceremony in the town of Albu Mohammed.

The funeral was for two murdered members of the local Awakening Council, a group of Sunni Muslim tribesmen who have been battling al-Qaida militants.

Today’s attack follows a spate of bombings this week in northern Iraq with more than 50 people killed in in Baquba on Tuesday.
