Turks and Caicos premier faces rape probe
A Puerto Rican woman has accused the premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands of raping her.
Police and the FBI are investigating the woman’s claim that Michael Misick assaulted her on the night of March 27, deputy police commissioner Hubert Hughes said.
Mr Misick, who has held the top office in the British territory since 2003, said in a televised address last week that a woman had filed a false complaint of sexual assault against him, but he would be cleared of the “outrageous allegations”.
The FBI field office in Miami referred questions to the US Embassy in Barbados, where assistant legal attache Norman Scott said he could not confirm or deny any US involvement in the investigation.
Puerto Rico is a US territory.
