Pirates have freed 30 hostages held on a tourist yacht off Somalia.
President Nicholas Sarkozy said he has thanked the French army and other French agencies “that allowed a quick end” to the hostage-taking.
He did not elaborate on the role of the French military but said the release occurred “without incident.”
Earlier this week members of the French military special forces were flown out the the area.
The pirates seized the Ponant yacht on April 4. It was carrying 30 crew members, 22 of them French.
