US: Girl, 3, shoots herself in the head with parents' gun

A three-year-old girl is said to be fighting for her life today after shooting herself in the head with a gun she found in a bedroom.

One of the girl’s parents apparently owned the gun, and at least one parent was home in Detroit, Michigan, when she shot herself yesterday.

The Detroit Free Press said police questioned the parents and took away the gun.

The girl was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital, then transferred to Children’s Hospital of Michigan, where she was in a critical condition, the paper said.
