100-car pile up traps drivers on Austrian autobahn

Up to 100 cars were involved in a huge pile up on an Austrian autobahn today.

Police in the western province of Upper Austria say many people are believed to be injured in the accident which happened in heavy snow on the A1 between the towns of Seewalchen and St. Georgen, near Salzburg.

Reports said that some people were believed trapped in their vehicles and that rescue efforts were being hampered by snowfall and freezing temperatures.
