Olympic torch 'will still go up Everest'

China still plans to route the Olympic torch through Tibet and to the summit of Mount Everest despite the violent protests there.

Anti-government riots last week in the Tibetan capital Lhasa and a crackdown by communist authorities have led to calls from activist groups to stop the relay from going through the region before this summer’s games.
