Israeli army halts Gaza raids

Israel's army has halted Gaza Strip air strikes and raids in response to a serious drop in rocket fire from the territory, defence chiefs said today.

It was not immediately clear if Israel and the Hamas rulers of the coastal territory had agreed on a truce.
