Thaksin poised to return to Thailand
Deposed Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is set to return to Thailand to fight corruption charges this week, according to his supporters.
A pro-Thaksin website today posted a picture of the politician with his right hand raised giving the victory sign, standing with his son among a crowd of supporters outside Suvanabhumi International Airport.
It urged supporters to greet him at the airport at 9 am on Thursday.
The chief of Thaksin’s legal defence team, Pichit Chuenban, confirmed the Manchester City owner is “poised” to return and is expected to make an official announcement later today.
