Another earthquake off Sumatra

A powerful earthquake struck off Indonesia’s western island of Sumatra today, the US Geological Survey said.

The quake, which had a preliminary magnitude of 6.7, was centred in the Indian Ocean around 102 miles from the coastal town of Padang, the agency reported.
