US 'willing to share' satellite strike details with China

US Defence Secretary Robert Gates said today the United States is prepared to share with China some of the information it has about today’s missile strike on an ailing satellite.

His comments came after Beijing complained the missile strike could cause harm to outer space security and some countries.

Mr Gates told reporters during a visit to the state of Hawaii that the US is prepared to share whatever it can “appropriately” share with China.

The Defence Department said earlier that debris from the satellite since the strike is being tracked over the Pacific and Atlantic oceans but appears to be too small to cause damage on Earth.
