Robbers among 10 hanged in Iran
Iran has hanged 10 men convicted of murder and armed robbery, media reports said today.
It brings the number of people executed there so far this year to 40.
The country’s state-owned IRAN newspaper said four of the men, who were identified only by their first names, were executed yesterday in the notorious Evin prison just north of the capital, Tehran.
The Etemaad independent daily said that six other men were hanged yesterday in the city of Zanjan, 200 miles west of the capital.
They were convicted of armed robbery and murder. Murder, rape, robbery and kidnapping, along with drug trafficking, are all capital offences in the Islamic Republic.
