Australian parliament to apologise to Aborigines
Australia’s Parliament would apologise to Aborigines for “profound grief” and “the indignity and degradation” caused by the policies of past governments, under a motion proposed today by the prime minister.
The motion to be moved by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in Parliament on Wednesday offers an unequivocal apology to Aborigines, Australia’s original inhabitants who are now the country’s poorest and most disadvantaged minority.
