27 killed in Burma bus crash

A bus has plunged into a ditch along a road in eastern Burma, killing 27 passengers and injuring 10 others, it was reported today.

The bus skidded into the ditch as it travelled from Burma’s largest city Rangoon, to the southern Mon state, the New Light of Burma reported.

The accident occurred near the town of Kyaik Hto, about 65 miles east of Rangoon. It was said to be the country’s worst crash this year.
