Iranian TV airs video of US confrontation

Iranian state TV aired video today purporting to show a weekend stand-off between small Iranian boats and US naval ships in the Persian Gulf.

The five-minute video, without sound, showed a man speaking into a hand-held radio, with three US ships floating in the distance.

The footage did not show any Iranian boats approaching the American vessels, nor any provocation, but the short clip likely did not show Sunday’s entire incident.

It aired on Iran’s state-run English-language channel Press TV, whose signal is often jammed inside the Islamic state.
