Bush arrives in Israel

US President George Bush began his first presidential trip to Israel today seeking to build momentum for stalled Middle East peace talks.

He also hopes to clear up confusion about whether the US is serious about confronting Iran over its suspected nuclear ambitions.

Air Force One touched down at Ben-Gurion International Airport just before noon local time.

President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert were waiting to greet him.
