Spanish police find bomb-making cache
Spanish police found 275lb (125kg) of bomb-making material following the arrest of two suspected members of the armed Basque group ETA, the Interior Minister said today.
The cache, found in the northern province of Huesca, also contained detonators and timers, a ministry spokesman told The Associated Press, on condition of anonymity.
The hidden stash was traced after police found a sketch map on one of the detainees.
The two suspected ETA members – identified as Igor Portu and Martin Sarasola - were arrested on Sunday at a security checkpoint in the northern Basque town of Arrasate.
Portu was taken to hospital in San Sebastian early yesterday. Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba said he was injured while resisting arrest.
