A clash between Nato troops and Taliban insurgents in southern Afghanistan left a child and adult civilian dead and five others wounded, the alliance said in a statement today.

The troops battled militants after a roadside bomb attack on Nato’s International Security Assistance Force soldiers on Friday near Tirin Kot, the capital of Uruzgan province, the statement said.
