British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was hit by fresh opinion poll woe tonight as the Tories moved into a 13-point lead – their biggest advantage for almost two decades and enough for a 64-seat Commons majority.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was hit by fresh opinion poll woe tonight as the Tories moved into a 13-point lead – their biggest advantage for almost two decades and enough for a 64-seat Commons majority.

Although David Cameron’s opposition dropped one point to 40%, Brown’s party suffered a six-point slump to 27% in the wake of a series of crises for the Government.
