Three found guilty of terror plot in Denmark

Three men were today convicted of a bomb plot in Denmark using the same home-made explosive as the London July 7 bombers.

Mohammad Zaher, Ahmad Khaldhadi and Abdallah Andersen were arrested in the central city of Odense.

Police said they found a bomb-making manual and a bottle with 50 grammes of triacetone triperoxide, or TATP, in one of the suspects’ homes.

That was the explosive used by the four suicide bombers who killed 52 commuters in London on July 7, 2005.

During the trial, prosecutors revealed phone-tap recordings of the defendants discussing possible targets, including the Jyllands-Posten newspaper, which published cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in 2005, the City Hall Square in Copenhagen and the nearby Tivoli amusement park.

The men denied the charges and said they were just joking when discussing possible attacks.
