Death sentence for alligator horror killer

A murderer who dumped a five-year-old girl in alligator-infested waters where she was eaten alive has been sentenced to death.

Harrel Braddy was free on parole for attempted murder when he befriended Shandelle Maycock and her daughter, Quatisha, through a church.

The killings came after Braddy flew into a rage when Mrs Maycock refused to let him into her home in Florida.

He drove her to a remote sugarcane field, choked her unconscious and left her to die. But she woke up and managed to wave down help from a passing driver.

Meanwhile Braddy drove the girl to a section of the Everglades known as Alligator Alley and dropped her in the water. Her body was found two days later.

She had been alive when alligators attacked her, a medical examiner said.

The killings happened nine years ago. Braddy, 58, was only caught last year and was convicted in July of first-degree murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and other charges.

Mrs Maycock sobbed during the initial sentencing as she told jurors how her life without her only child would never be the same.
