British tourists raped in Jordan

Two British tourists were raped while on a day trip sightseeing in Jordan, police revealed today.

They were attacked after missing their transport back to the capital Amman from a visit to the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea.

The women accepted an invitation from a Jordanian woman to spend the night at her house.

Later four drunken men tried to break in and kidnap them.

The Jordanian woman led them through a back door out of the house, accompanied by her brother and his friend, a police official said.

On the road, the brother and his friend raped the women and dumped them in an isolated vegetable grove.

The brother and friend have been charged with rape and kidnapping which happened last Saturday.

Four other men are charged with attempted rape and attempted kidnapping.
