FBI join Maldives bombing investigation
The FBI have today been sent to investigate the Maldives bombing that that injured 12 foreign tourists.
The nail-packed bomb exploded outside a crowded park in the capital Male on Saturday, the first such attack on the Indian Ocean archipelago renowned for its exclusive tourist resorts.
The US government has sent the FBI's regional representative to assist with the investigation, it said.
Maldives authorities arrested seven local men in connection with the blast, but have not given details of their alleged role in the attack or the possible motive.
