An earthquake with preliminary magnitude of 7.1 hit near Guam this morning, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The quake was centred near the US territory of Guam at 11.09 am (0309 BST), the agency said in a statement, citing information provided by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Honolulu, Hawaii.
