Nine killed as soldiers fire at protesters

Soldiers in Burma opened fire on thousands of anti-government protesters today, killing at least nine people and injuring 11.

Among those killed was a Japanese journalist covering the pro-democracy demonstrations in Rangoon, the country’s largest city.
