UK survivor of Thai plane crash dies in hospital

A woman left fighting for her life after surviving a plane crash at a Thai holiday resort has died, it was confirmed today.

Bethan Jones, 22, from Porth, south Wales, died in hospital in Thailand yesterday, a spokeswoman for the British Foreign Office said.

Confirmation of her death comes one day after the body of her boyfriend, who was travelling with her, was flown back to the UK.

Alex Collins, 22, of Maesteg, Bridgend, and Miss Jones had decided to leave Bangkok and head for the Thai resort of Phuket.

The young couple were just three days into a round-the-world trip, planned to last six months, when tragedy struck.

The One-Two-Go flight from Bangkok skidded, crashed and burst into flames after trying to land in pouring rain at the resort.
