Africa aid ambushed

Armed men ambushed an aid convoy in Darfur, injuring three humanitarian workers, the United Nations mission to Sudan said today.

The convoy from the US-based World Vision International aid group was attacked with eight staff on board some 25 miles south of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state, on Thursday, the UN said.

All three injured aid workers were Sudanese. Two were shot in the head and one in the arm. Two are in stable condition, the group said.

Attacks against humanitarian workers have increased by 150% from June 2006 to June 2007, the UN says.
