Russia warns West over use of force against Iran

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov today warned against the use of force in Iran and against unilateral sanctions to punish Tehran for its nuclear programme.

Lavrov’s statement reflected a rift between Moscow and the United States and other Western nations that have pushed for tougher sanctions to persuade Tehran to drop its uranium enrichment effort.
