Bush approves gradual troop reductions in Iraq

Rejecting calls to leave Iraq, President George Bush approved gradual US troop reductions from their highest level of the war today and said more forces can return home as progress is made.

“The more successful we are, the more American troops can return home,” Bush said in remarks prepared for a White House address to the US.
